HOW CAN YOU KNOW CHRIST?

We at First Baptist Church have based our entire faith on a living personal knowledge of and relationship with Jesus of Nazareth in whom we believe, and the Bible calls the Christ.  If you have not acknowledged your sinful nature and accepted the great gift in which God has given through the life, death, burial and resurrection of Jesus the Christ, then you cannot understand the joy and peace we express.

BUT, you can have that relationship.  You can KNOW Jesus as your Christ personally and have the promise of a strength in this life and Heaven when you die.  Because God loves you so much, He gives you the opportunity to respond through faith to his gracious offer of forgiveness of sin and eternal life.

For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— (Ephesians 2:8 NIV)

This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth. (I Timothy 2:3-4 NIV)

There is only one way that you can know God and have the eternal life He is ready to give you.

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.  (John 3:16 NIV)

. . . but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 6:23b NIV)

If you now understand that the only way to God is through Jesus Christ then you need to:

Believe that Jesus is the only way to God.

Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. (John14:6 NIV)

Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved."  (Acts 4:12 NIV)

Admit that you are a sinner and need forgiveness

. . . for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23 NIV)

But God demonstrates His own love for us in this:  While we were still sinners, Christ died for us (Romans 5:8 NIV)

After you have admitted you are a sinner you need to repent.  To repent means to change directions so you will change those things in your life that you have admitted to and totally surrender your life to Christ.

I have declared to both Jews and Greeks that they must turn to God in repentance and have faith in our Lord Jesus. (Acts 20:21 NIV)

Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God's wrath remains on him." (John 3:36 NIV)

Then ask Jesus to come into and guide your life.

for, "Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. (Romans 10:13 NIV)

Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God— (John 1:12 NIV)

You can ask Jesus to enter your heart right now...do not wait any longer.  Just pray this prayer. . .

Lord,

I know that I am a sinner and need your forgiveness.  I believe that you died on the cross and rose again so that I could be forgiven and have eternal life.  Please forgive my sins.  I turn from my sins and give my life to you,  I ask you now to be the Savior and Master of my life.  Thank you for hearing my prayer and giving me your gift of eternal life.  Help me now to live for you.  In Jesus' name...AMEN
